Soldier Protection ( Manwearable)
The Personal Acoustic Localisation System (PALS) provides dismounted soldiers with the ability to detect and locate Small Arms Fire (SAF).
Dismounted soldiers need to be part of a one or two way communication network.
Required bandwidth to transmit acoustic data is very limited.
The so called mini-AMMS (m-AMMS) is based upon an IP 67 compliant sensor node and includes an advanced IMU to measure both position, orientation and attitude.
The m-AMMS weighs around 250 g , has a diameter of 145 mm and a height of 60 mm and consumes approximately 2 W.
The m-AMMS has a built-in GPS-aided INS for geo-referencing and orientation. RF configurable communication is included as well.
A Bluetooth connection is available, allowing the transmission of the locally processed data on a tablet, haptic vest or another Bluetooth device for information readout.
As an option, two flat Li-ion batteries can be inserted into the very same m-AMMS design, increasing the weight up to 350 grams, but no longer necessitating the need for a powering cable between the upper body and the helmet, making the device fully self-contained.
Localisations can be communicated in various ways, such as on a wrist display or through a tactile belt.
